The brief
Communities running active Discord servers wanted announcements and alerts to reach their Telegram audience too, without a moderator manually copy-pasting every message across platforms.
What I built
A message-forwarding bot with two modes, built to run continuously in the background:
- Discord to Discord — forwards text, images, files, and embeds from one or more private or public channels to another Discord channel, using webhooks or a direct account connection.
- Discord to Telegram — mirrors text and images from a Discord channel straight into a Telegram group or channel.
The bot works from membership alone — no admin access to the source server is required to start forwarding.
Tech stack
Node.js, Discord.js, Telegram Bot API, deployed on a persistent worker process with automatic reconnect handling.
The result
- Zero manual cross-posting — announcements land on both platforms in real time
- Works for both public and private channel sources
- Runs unattended 24/7 once configured
